Brooks Bandits forwards Isaac Johnson and Alexei Zhukov and Nanaimo Clippers forward Jack Rimmer have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.
1st Star – Isaac Johnson (F) – Brooks Bandits
Johnson picked up three goals, three assists and six points in two games over the weekend.
In just his fourth game since returning from injury, the Bemidji State University commit notched his first career BCHL hat trick on Friday in an 8-0 road win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders. He potted a power-play goal, a shorthanded marker and one even strength, while also adding a helper for a four-point night. He was named first star of the game. A night later, he collected a pair of assists in a 4-3 home loss to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
Johnson now has six goals, four assists and 10 points in five contests this season.
2nd Star – Alexei Zhukov (F) – Brooks Bandits
Zhukov tied for second in league scoring last week with five points in a pair of games on three goals and two assists.
The Russian-born forward picked up a goal and an assist in Friday’s 8-0 victory over the Sherwood Park Crusaders, then had a three-point outing the following night, getting in on all three of his team’s goals, in a 4-3 loss to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. He notched two power-play markers and an assist in the loss.
Zhukov is tied for fifth in league scoring with 16 points in 12 games. He has registered at least a point in 11 of those 12 contests this season.
3rd Star – Jack Rimmer (F) – Nanaimo Clippers
Rimmer finished his week with two goals and three assists for five points in two games.
On Friday night, in Nanaimo’s first of two road games against the Powell River Kings, the 2005-born forward had three points, a goal and two helpers, in his team’s 8-3 victory. He was named first star of the game. A night later, Rimmer scored the eventual game-winning goal 24 seconds into the third period as the Clippers hung on for the 4-3 win. He added an assist to finish with two points and earned first star for the second night in a row.
The Niagara University commit and Toronto, Ont. native has 11 points in 13 games this season on four goals and seven assists.
